Commercial director in Paris
Antonin Sgambato is a commercial director and cinematographer based in Paris. He writes, shoots and lights commercials for fashion, sport and luxury brands: TV spots, digital films, brand films and fashion films, from the first idea to the final grade.
His work has earned a Top/Com d’Or with G7.
Fashion
Fashion films, digital campaigns, content for social media: in fashion, he looks for the right gesture and the light that brings out the fabric. For Prada he co-directed The Screentest with Romain Vallade, a fashion film shot like a screen test and turned into posters and a digital campaign. He also photographed the campaign for a Dior jewellery collection and shoots for the clothing brand LB.
Sport
Sport calls for rhythm, energy and bodies filmed up close. He directed commercials for the gym chain Neoness and for the Paris sports studios Episod, the 2019 campaign of the International Center of European Football and a commercial for 3X Energy.
Luxury
In luxury, everything comes down to detail: the light, the materials, the pace of the edit. Dance your life, created for the Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, sets two dancers moving through the palace; Prada’s The Screentest and the Dior jewellery campaign share the same care.
Director and cinematographer
Antonin Sgambato often handles the camera and the lighting himself. Wearing both hats shortens the distance between intention and image, on set as in preparation. With Romain Vallade he also forms the duo R&A, with forty years of combined experience.
A solid production
His projects can rely on Pleine Image Prod for line production and Pleine Image Loc for camera and lighting gear, with a 300 m² studio fitted with motorized lighting grids. Post-production (editing, grading, sound) is followed through to the delivery of the masters.
Everywhere in France and abroad
Based in Paris, he travels everywhere, in France and abroad: location shoots, exceptional venues or studio, as in his series in Morocco, the Canary Islands or Senegal.
How a project runs
- Brief and writing: a first conversation, then a director’s treatment and a shot list.
- Preparation: casting, location scouting, crew and equipment.
- Shoot: direction, camera and lighting, in studio or on location.
- Post-production and delivery: editing, grading and every format needed.
